The MCR 77 team arrive at BeaveRun ready for the National Race Friday night. Unloaded everything in to the garage so we are ready for the weekend. Mark in the STU Mini Cooper S, Dave in the ITS RX-7 and Mark Keefer in the ITS RX-7.
Saturday morning arrive to prep the car. Dave informed us that he will not be driving as he did not feel good. Mark decided to run the RX-7 ITS to test out the new alternator. 1st call for group 3 and we set the tire pressures and torqued the wheels. Mark suited up and gent down to grid. New Toyo tires and was ready. This was only a 20 practice. Mark came back and said the car handled good. Need to adjust the tire pressures some more to get better grip. Need to put brakes on as there was not enough to slow down the car.
1st call for group 7 and mark lined up the RX-7 with Mark Keefer in his car. This was only a 15 minute practice for the restricted regional class. Mark came back and said the car is still down on power and instructed the MCR 77 team to check out the fuel pump. Mark Keefer informed us that the car ran good and is ready for the race. Mark had to get ready for the qualifying session for group 3 here shortly.
New brakes and adjusted tire pressures for Mark in the STU mini and he proceeded down to the false grid to line up. This is a 25 minute qualifying session and ready to go. The times seemed to improve but the track seemed to be getting slower as it was hot and humid. He was happy with the way the car handled and performed.
After the adjustment to the fuel pump Mark was ready for his qualifying session in the RX-7. Mark Keefer checked out his car, checked his tires and gassed up and was ready for his qualifying session. This is a 20 minute session and they both were ready. They both were running around the track and picking up time. They both were pleased.
Party time Saturday night.
Sunday we arrived and was ready for the race. Mark went out for the hardship in the Mini and the RX-7. Thankful there was 2 sessions for him to jump in and out of cars. Needed to warm up the tires. Mark Keefer also went out to warm up his tires.
Waiting for our race. Set the tires, torqued the wheels, checked all the fluids, gassed the car and was ready. 1st call and we went to the false grid to line up for group 3. Pace lap under way and green flag was waving. Mark got a jump and was looking good. Picking up time and racing right along. Mark finished the race in 2nd in STU and was pleased. He had to jump out and get ready for the next race in ITS.
Mark Connolly and Mark Keefer lined up after 1st call for race group. Pace lap under way and the green flag waived. Mark Connolly and Mark Keefer was having a good time racing against each other. Times were improving and finished the race good. Mark Keefer come in after 12 laps with issues. Gear shift problems. At least Mark Keefer finished over half the race to get his credit. Mark Connolly finished 3rd in ITS and Mark Keefer finished 4th. Good race.
