The MCR77 team arrived at Mid Ohio, Mark Connolly in the Mini Cooper , David Heinz in the Mazda RX-7, Rob Verenna in the BMW, and Mark Keefer in the Mazda RX-7 for the Double National. All running in STU.
Friday qualifying all of them went out for the 1st session and Mark Keefer had some issues and not sure what it was. Mark Connolly was also having issues with the boost on the mini. Rob and David had a good session. After the session Mark Connolly looked over Mark Keefer’s car and think it might be the drive train. So Mark Keefer loaded up and head back home to McB to pick up the spare drive train. Mark Connolly started working on the mini to reposition the hose to the super charger to maintain boost. 2nd session Rob and Dave ran good and Mark still having some issues with the hose staying on the super charger for the boost.
Saturday’s race for Mark Connolly, David and Rob went well. However Mark Connolly was still having some issues with the boost. Results were David finished 5th in STU 15th in group, Mark Connolly finished 6th in STU 18th in group, Rob finished 7th in STU 19th in group. Mark Keefer did not start as he was heading back to Mid Ohio with his spare parts. Mark Keefer arrived just as the race day finished. Mark Connolly started to swap out the parts to get the car ready for the race.
Sunday’s race was not off to a good start. Mark Keefer went out for hardship practice to see if the spare drive train worked. Still having issues he decided not to race and load up to head home. Mark Connolly, David and Rob lined up to start the race. Mark again having issues with the boost decided to come in after completing 12 laps. Enough laps completed to get his credit for the race. Rob and Dave were battling it out the entire race. Rob finished 6th in STU 17th in group, David finished 7th in STU 18th in group. Mark Connolly finished 8th in STU 28th in group.
